P1PW Contrast Sensors Detect the Smallest Differences in Contrast

The P1PW series contrast sensors detect the smallest differences in contrast on a wide range of surfaces and materials. The P1PW contrast sensors can reliably detect color-intensive to pale markings against any background, even in fast process flows. Thanks to the emitted white light and the differentiated evaluation of the received light according to red, green and blue values, the contrast sensors also detect markings with even the smallest contrast difference. The P1PW sensors solve challenging process situations with colorful, glossy and transparent material by automatically adjusting the light intensity during teach-in.

Maximum Flexibility with the P1PW Contrast Sensors

The contrast sensors of the P1PW series offer maximum flexibility for the widest range of applications thanks to three integrated teach modes. The three modes enable the P1PW sensors to be used variably as print mark readers, contrast sensors and for detecting color differences. The integrated job memory ensures quick batch changes so that no individual settings are required during operation.

Mode 1: Print Mark Mode

The greatest contrast difference of a color channel is used to reliably distinguish between mark and background.

Mode 2: Contrast Mode

The evaluation of the average light intensity of all color channels enables detection of the smallest contrast differences.

Mode 3: Color Mode

The signal values of all color channels are used to reliably detect color differences.

Other Highlights of the P1PW Series Contrast Sensors

Integrated Jump Detection for Dynamic Processes

  • Accurate and stable detection of color changes
  • Reliable triggering of switching processes even with a wide range of color combinations and in the event of misalignment
  • No re-parametrization required during the ongoing process when changing products

Reliable Detection of High Gloss Surfaces

  • Automatic adjustment of light intensity during teach-in also ensures reliable detection of high gloss materials

High Switching Frequency of 50 kHz

  • Simultaneous evaluation of the RGB channels enables a high switching frequency of 50 kHz
  • Reliable results even in fast and dynamic processes

Detection of Very Small Objects with White Light

  • Emission of a small, homogeneous and rectangular light spot as clearly visible white light enables detection of even the smallest objects
  • Evaluation of the received light via RGB chip leads to optimal contrast values for different colors

Reading Out of the Color Channels via IO-Link

  • The values of the three RGB color channels received by the sensor are transmitted directly via IO-Link
  • Enables optimal adaptation to challenging applications
