Position Determination of Metal Tubes in Laser Cutting Machines with Smart 2D/3D Profile Sensors
Automated cutting of metal tubes and profiles in laser cutting machines requires the highest precision in object positioning. Smart 2D/3D profile sensors are installed on the sides of the tubes for this purpose, which measure parameters such as position, diameter, height or angle with a low frequency before the cutting process. Regardless of the shape, the measurement data is used to determine the position and speed for the feed. Raw data is evaluated using point clouds directly in the sensor housing via the configurable standard uniVision software.
