Ejection Control of Thin Shipping Bags on a Conveyor Belt Using Retro-Reflex Sensors with Light Band
In intralogistics, thin shipping bags, so-called flats, in different sizes are chosen as packaging for transporting smaller goods. The sorting of the flats must be monitored to ensure a smooth material flow. Retro-reflex sensors with light bands are installed on the sides of the ejection lanes, which accurately detect the flats from the front edge and over the entire width of the lane. Thanks to precise installation at the band level and the height of the light band, even thin flats with a thickness of just a few millimeters can be reliably detected.

Retro-reflex sensors with light band detect objects with variable edges, shapes and sizes. Thanks to the continuous, homogeneous laser light band, the sensor monitors a much larger area than a light barrier with a dot-shaped light spot. The light band can also detect small or translucent parts.
