Switching Distance
Inductive Sensors: The switching distance is the distance at which a target approaching the sensing face of an inductive sensor triggers a signal change. The switching distance is determined in accordance with the standard EN 60947-5-2 by means of a standard target.
Specifications included in the catalogue apply to nominal switching distance Sn. Switching distance is further categorized as follows by the standard EN 60947-5-2:
Effective switching distance Sr
Usable switching distance Su
Working distance Sa
General: The switching distance defines the distance which is required for the various measuring principles in order to influence the sensor or trigger a switching operation when an object is detected.
