Arrangement

The arrangement of the bars and spaces (space) included in a barcode is basically divided in two types, namely the vertical and the horizontal arrangement. In the former case, we speak of a picket fence arrangement, and in the latter case of a ladder arrangement. Scanning must always be executed perpendicular to the bars and spaces.
