All Your Needs in One Place: wenglor Machine Vision
Robot-Guided Pick-and-Place with the B60 Smart Camera
Various cookie blanks arrive unsorted to the robot via a conveyor belt. A light barrier detects the presence and triggers the image capture of the B60 smart camera, which records the position and rotation of the cookies. Thanks to the powerful wenglor uniVision 3 image processing software, the camera recognizes the cookie shape using a localization module, checks it and transmits the gripping point directly to the robot – regardless of the robot manufacturer. This ensures that the sorting process takes place according to predefined factors, such as shape and quality.
The B60 smart camera benefits from direct communication with robot systems from leading manufacturers (e.g. UR, KUKA) and integration in BOSCH Nexeed Automation. The standardized interfaces enable fast integration and greatly simplify setup, operation and data exchange.

Surface Inspection with 2D Image Processing
The BBVK machine vision camera precisely checks the surface of the cookies. With the “Blob” module of the uniVision 3 software, irregularities in the image are detected as pixel groups (“blobs”). Consequently, larger blobs are classified as surface defects, and damaged or poorly processed objects are rejected. Using state-of-the-art CMOS sensor technology, the global shutter cameras of the BBVK series offer an impressive resolution of up to 24 megapixels and a high frame rate. They guarantee optimum image quality even in dynamic application scenarios. The very small and robust housing enables compact mounting and makes it suitable for tight installation situations. Together with the MVC machine vision controller and the uniVision 3 image processing software, challenging image processing tasks are successfully implemented. Users can benefit from the powerful Intel® Core i7 processor of the MVC with a clock frequency of 4.4 GHz through numerous interfaces with up to 16 devices simultaneously. The portfolio is complemented by a variety of matching illuminations, lenses and filters.

An important component of the wenglor image processing portfolio is the powerful image processing system with multiple cameras. Watch the video to discover how it can solve a wide range of high-end applications.
Height Measurement with 2D/3D Profile Sensor and Machine Vision Controller
The 2D/3D profile sensors of the weCat3D series generate highly detailed 2D height profiles using laser triangulation. These are transferred directly to the MVC machine vision controller for analysis and further processing. The powerful uniVision 3 machine vision software is used on the machine vision controller to optimally solve the application. If the measured data deviates from the target values, the corresponding cookies are rejected. With uniVision 3 on the MVC, profile sensors and machine vision cameras can be operated in parallel. The combination of exceptional quality of 2D height profiles, different laser colors and classes, and the ability to simultaneously carry out 2D profile analysis and 2D image processing significantly optimize production processes.

Quality Control by Machine Vision Camera and Machine Vision Controller
A machine vision camera checks that the sugar icing is applied correctly to the cookies. Supported by suitable illumination technology, the camera records high-resolution images that are transferred to the machine vision controller for evaluation. In the “Image Comparison” software module, recorded images are compared with a reference image, whereby the uniVision 3 software also detects minimal deviations in the sugar icing and transmits them to the control system via the RTE interface. This sorts out the corresponding objects. With the machine vision controller and uniVision image processing software, modules for 2D image processing and 2D profile analysis can be operated simultaneously and independently of each other with up to 16 devices.

Deep OCR with the B60 Smart Camera
The packaging of the cookies is marked with the expiry date in plain text and a 2D code. The B60 smart camera with integrated uniVision software and lighting module reads the expiry date with the “Deep OCR” software module and simultaneously decodes the information contained with the “Code 2D” module. It transmits this read information to the PLC via the system interface, where the results are checked for legibility and plausibility. Parts with correct information are forwarded and faulty objects are sorted out.
The integrated uniVision 3 software with the state-of-the-art deep learning technology for reading plain text ensures an extremely high detection rate with minimal configuration effort. Thanks to the free combination of modules in uniVision, such as code reading, locating objects and other inspection tasks, it offers maximum flexibility to solve a wide range of applications.
Deep OCR with the B60 Smart Camera
Many applications require the combination of these technologies: Reading codes that contain information for machines and reading plain text that people can understand. Find out in the video how the Deep OCR function can solve such applications with uniVision 3.
