Detection of Insulation Mats in Body Construction via Time-of-Flight Laser Distance Sensors
In the automotive industry, insulation mats are used to produce body parts. These ultrathin black mats are used to reduce driving noise caused by vibration or internal components hitting the body. Time-of-flight laser distance sensors check, from large distances, whether the mats were placed in the correct locations on the body during production. Thanks to their integrated intensity evaluation system, these sensors can reliably detect 1–2 mm thick mats against high-gloss backgrounds.
Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight
Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
