Diameter and Ovality Check on Steel Pipes with 2D/3D Profile Sensors
After welding metal pipes in the steel industry, a 360° measurement of the pipe is carried out to ensure quality in order to check the diameter, roundness and degree of ovality. Four 2D/3D profile sensors are mounted for this purpose, which combine point clouds with the VisionApp 360 software and thus measure the pipe completely via laser triangulation. Deviations in the micrometer range are recorded and can be remedied. Typical measuring frequencies between 180 and 700 Hz and pipe speeds of up to 2,000 mm/s can be achieved for the profile sensors.
