Position Monitoring for Dark Fabric Parts in the Production of Trunk Trims Using Reflex Sensors with Background Suppression
Trunk trims for the automotive industry are automatically pressed in rear body cells. The deep black fabric is placed on a metal plate via an airlock, where it is automatically picked up by robots. The presence and exact positioning is checked by four reflex sensors with background suppression embedded in the plate to save space. The miniature sensors face upwards and send a signal as soon as the fabric has been placed correctly – triggering the robot’s gripping process.

Reflex Sensors With Background Suppression
Reflex sensors with background suppression detect and measure objects contactlessly and detect them in front of any defined background. They work with red light, infrared light, blue light or laser light. Thanks to the principle of angle measurement, the color, shape and object surface have no influence on the switching behavior of the sensors.
