Collision Protection of Overhead Tracks with Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flightin the Automotive Industry

In the car’s final assembly stage, car bodies must be transported along overhead tracks into inaccessible levels and to processing stations. The electric overhead conveyors required for this purpose are mounted under the hall ceiling so that the floor remains unobstructed. In order to avoid collisions, laser distance sensors Time of Flight with wintec are installed on the overhead track carriers. They measure the distance to the carriers in front and thus control the distance between them.
