Presence Check of Threads in Sleeves with Reflex Sensors with Background Suppression

In the automotive industry, metal sleeves are used to assemble engine covers. Before they can be installed, it must be ensured that there is a thread inside the sleeves. After separation via a vibrating spiral conveyor, the presence of the threads at the end of the feed rail is detected by a reflex sensor with background suppression (laser class 1). The sensor’s light beam is directed obliquely from above to the position of the partially glossy and dark threads. If this is missing, the faulty part is ejected.

Reflex Sensors With Background Suppression

Reflex sensors with background suppression detect and measure objects contactlessly and detect them in front of any defined background. They work with red light, infrared light, blue light or laser light. Thanks to the principle of angle measurement, the color, shape and object surface have no influence on the switching behavior of the sensors.
