Tool Breakage Check on Drill and Milling Heads with Through-Beam Sensors
Automated turning, milling or drilling machines process workpieces with maximum precision. The quality depends on the condition of the drill and milling heads. Each time the tool is changed, the CNC cutter head returns to its initial position. A through-beam sensor with laser light checks the tool. Thanks to its fine laser beam, the robust stainless steel sensor with coated lens detects the tool tip. If the light beam is not interrupted, the cutter head is shorter and therefore worn or broken. In this way, a defective tool is detected and can be replaced.
Through-Beam Sensors
Through-beam sensors detect and count small parts, detect the edges of objects and monitor passages in systems. The emitter and receiver are housed in separate housings according to the through-beam mode. The sensor switches as soon as an object interrupts the laser light, red light or infrared light.
