Flat Dome Illumination for Pick And Place Feed Solution with Cameras
When separating objects in pick and place applications, homogeneous illumination of all parts is necessary in order to identify their exact position and alignment. The bulk material is stored in feeders, separated by vibration and removed by robots. In order to illuminate all objects precisely, the flat dome illumination installed as incident light must be twice as large as the inspection surface. The illumination has a recess in the middle for positioning the camera. Thanks to the homogeneity of the light, the dome illumination is suitable for inspecting a variety of materials.
Flat Dome Lights
Flat dome lights are most often used as top lights or area lighting to homogeneously illuminate large areas. The name comes from the lighting effect being similar to a traditional dome light but created over a larger field of view. The housing is constructed like an LED flat light (or backlight) with a camera hole in the centre. Flat domes are typically used at double the size of the field of view to perfectly illuminate many types of surfaces.
