Gap Monitoring via 2D/3D Profile Sensors for Roof Mounting in Car Body Construction
In the automotive industry, the precise placement of car roofs in the body frames is of great importance for vehicle quality. Clearances and distances of the sheets must be maintained in special robot cells. For this purpose, eight stationary 2D/3D profile profiles measure the position of the roof in three axes relative to the body via laser triangulation before depositing. The measured values are used to position and deposit the roof. Due to the minimum distance of more than one meter from the object and the necessary accuracy of 0.1 mm, the sensors must offer a resolution of at least 100 µm.
