Double Layer Detection for Sheet Metal with Laser Distance Sensor Triangulation in the Automotive Industry
During the automatic removal of flat metal sheets from a supply by a robot, several sheets can stick together due to the magnetic charge. The thickness of the sheets must be detected to ensure that only one sheet per assembly process is gripped. For this purpose, two laser distance sensor triangulation are installed opposite each other after removal. One measures from above to the sheet, the other laser sensor from below. The sheet thickness is thus determined using a differential calculation. If this result is greater than that of an individual sheet, a signal is output.
Laser Distance Sensors Triangulation
The contactless laser triangulation sensors work according to the angle measurement principle, which enables reliable and highly precise measurement in the close range up to 1,000 mm. The triangulation sensors deliver stable measured values regardless of colors, shapes, rough and textured surfaces.
