Distance Measurement for Material Replenishment of Magazines in Car Body Construction with Laser Distance Sensor Time-of-Flight

In automotive shell construction, body parts such as doors, tailgates or fenders are stored temporarily in magazines in a fully automated process. In order to monitor their presence, a stationary laser distance sensor time-of-flight is installed on the side of each carrier. Thanks to wintec, the sensor measures precisely even on shiny and highly reflective surfaces, including objects positioned at an angle. The measurement function thus enables objects to be counted so that upstream and downstream processes can be controlled without errors. There is no need for an analog card thanks to the integrated IO-Link interface.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
