Distance Calculation for Cheeses with Time-of-Flight Laser Distance Sensors

During the production and processing of cheeses, the rind is removed in a robot-assisted process and the cheese is freshly coated. In order to determine the exact distance between the mounted tool and the object, a Time-of-Flight laser distance sensor in a stainless steel 316L housing is installed directly on the robot. The sensor is ideal for this purpose thanks to its low weight. For washdown areas, it is also essential to have a cleaning-agent resistant, leak-proof housing and IP69K degree of protection. Thanks to wintec, glossy and wet objects can also be reliably detected at an angle.

Laser Distance Sensors Time of Flight

Laser distance sensors Time-of-Flight (ToF) work according to the principle of transit time measurement, which means that they cover large working ranges up to 10,000 mm, so that objects can be reliably detected even at great distances. The ToF sensors are extremely robust against interfering ambient light, which ensures reliable operation.
