Detection of the Foil End via Contrast Sensors
In the pharmaceutical industry, pills and tablets are packaged in blister packs to protect them from environmental influences, atmospheric oxygen or moisture. The packaging consists of foils that are unwound from the rolls during the production process. The end of the foil is marked with a marking adhesive strip. To ensure a continuous flow of material, contrast sensors detect this marking and can thus initiate a roll change. Thanks to the integrated jump detection, markings of different colors on different materials are reliably detected.
Contrast Sensors
Contrast sensors with switching or analog output measure the brightness of objects. Sensors with switching output compare the brightness level with a reference value in order to detect contrast marking, for example. Sensors with analog output provide the measured brightness as a proportional voltage signal in order to monitor brightness curves, for example.
