Detection of Faulty Wheel Bearings on Railcars in Foundries via Vision Sensors
In steel foundries, railcars are used to transport cast parts weighing tons. To prevent downtime and repair costs and to increase the safety of the rail-guided carriages, the wheel bearings must be checked for damage during operation. Two vision sensors mounted below the carriages create an image of each wheel bearing shell. If damage such as a missing lid or missing balls is detected, the sensor reports this. Thanks to the integrated illumination, it delivers reliable results, even in extremely dirty, dusty and dark environments.
B50 Vision Sensors
Vision sensors from the B50 series include numerous image processing functions for the automation industry. From simple presence checks to color and shape recognition, the counting and sorting of objects, these sensors are used for quality assurance – even in real time via Industrial Ethernet.
