Detection and Counting of Transparent Trays in Packaging Systems Using Retro-Reflex Sensors for Transparent Objects
In automated packaging systems in the food industry, trays sealed with transparent film must be reliably detected during the labeling and weighing process, in order to control the conveyor technology and trigger the labeling process, for example. For this purpose, several retro-reflex sensors for transparent objects are mounted above the conveyor belt. Together with reflectors positioned between the roller segments or in recesses, the optical sensors enable reliable front edge detection as well as presence checking and counting of the objects.
Retro-Reflex Sensors for Transparent Objects
In addition to detecting glossy, chrome-plated or reflective surfaces, retro-reflex sensors for transparent objects also detect and count transparent objects such as glass or film using red light. Objects are detected by interrupting the light beam between the sensor and the reflector.
