Contour Measurement of Car Design Models with 3D Sensor
For presentation purposes, concept vehicles for the automotive industry are designed quickly and cost-effectively from easily molded clay mass. Contours for the life-size 3D models are processed fully automated in milling portals. In order to precisely determine the travel of the milling heads, the design models as a whole are measured with micrometer accuracy by 3D sensors. The sensors project structured light onto the object and record digital data in the form of point clouds. Virtual 3D models are now calculated using software and compared with the original CAD data.
MLAS 3D Sensors
MLAS 3D sensors are distinguished by high precision for small measuring volumes. The models are available with a resolution of 5 or 12 MP. This means that even the smallest structures are precisely detected. High-quality optics provide high-contrast illumination and pattern projection.
