Retro-Reflex Sensor as Trigger Sensor for Measuring Cheese Blocks
In the food industry, it is important to accurately measure blocks of cheese on conveyors before cutting. To avoid keeping the measuring sensors permanently in operation, a retro-reflex sensor is installed upstream with laser light as a trigger. Only when this sensor detects an object are the subsequent sensors activated for measurement – which reduces unnecessary power consumption. The fine laser beam and high switching frequency ensure precise detection of the leading edge. Thanks to the single-lens optics without blind spots, the objects are reliably detected over the entire line width.

Universal Retro-Reflex Sensors
Universal retro-reflex sensors are suitable for the detection of glossy, chrome-plated or reflective surfaces thanks to the polarization filter. They work with red light or laser light. Objects are detected by interrupting the light beam between the sensor and the reflector.
