Position and Height Check of Color Pins via 2D/3D Profile Sensors

During the packing process, the correct number of color pins – depending on the packaging size – are guided via a conveyor line to the plug-in cylinder. To prevent damage to the packaging, a check must be carried out before inserting to ensure that all pins lie flat and are complete. For this purpose, a 2D/3D profile sensor is installed above the conveyor line, which measures the entire width of the pin position via laser triangulation. The uniVision image processing software checks for completeness and determines the height of the pins.

2D/3D profile sensors from the weCat3D series use the principle of laser triangulation to create 2D height profiles and 3D point clouds. The MLSL model provides accurate resolution in a compact housing design.
