Flap Query on Automotive Bodies Via Light Curtains for Measuring Tasks
During passenger car assembly, movable flaps (e.g. hoods or boot lids) can be opened and closed for carrying out work inside the bodies. To ensure that the exact flap position is known at all times, thus avoiding possible collisions, several intermediate positions of the flaps are checked via light curtains for measuring tasks. The light curtains reliably detect the metallic and often highly reflective flaps, regardless of their surface finish and paint color.

Light curtains for measuring tasks detect and measure objects with infrared light according to the through-beam mode. The emitter and receiver are enclosed in separate housings and are available with different measuring field heights and beam distances. If the light beams are interrupted during a protrusion or height check, the sensor is switched.
